Jürgen Lecher, a qualified geologist, has been using the medium of classic photography for productions. The crux of his work is not so much the qualities of the subject which he has sought out to document, but the story that can be spun and entwined with this object.
"Something has to happen", says the photographer. "It can take an hour or even three days until a story, triggered off by noises or scenes, forms an idea which I then render on film.
As such, processes and situations are more important to him than the actual production.
Vision and fiction are combined in his panorama pictures of outstanding buildings.
The world - so near. Inspired by areas he has found in european, american and far-east countries, Jürgen Lecher produces a reality which is a personal arrangement of several set pieces of photographic details. Framed in black and in rows of up to seven, these single elements, which can be up to fifty-four, create huge panoramas - enchanting and stimulating images. By using the principle of montage a narrative is created from straight photos. The reality of the situation photographed and the visual fiction interconnect to create a simultaneous perspective.
