What is the aim of this project?

The photo project
handicap - pictures of people

shows a world unknown to many people.

Primarily, the aim is to show the fascinating variety of people and to make us think how we deal with these differences.
It should show that people without disabilites can learn a lot from people with disabilites and that helping is not one-sided.
This especially appertains to the acceptance of the individual in a society which increasingly defines itself through competitiveness, success and beauty.
This project is also a plea, especially to young people, that we should find our own ideas and values and not define ourselves through modes of behaviour, brandnames and status symbols influenced by the media.

What can this project neither attempt nor achieve?

This photo project neither attempts to nor goes into the subject of disability extensively.
There are no academic or legal aspects.
This is not a call for donations to any church or secular organisation. There is no political motivation.

Plan and presentation of the the project

In accordance with the concept, the photographs are simple and straightforward, at the same time of a high photographic quality.
The whole emphasis of the exhibition is on the large-format images; an accompanying text outlines the whole concept and how the idea started.
The exhibition is going to be shown in different public areas.
